John O’Malley

John O’Malley is principal of Pasadena, CA-based O’Malley International Associates, a global communications agency specializing in strategic communications services for nonprofit groups, businesses, foundations, government agencies, K-14 schools, universities, trade associations, law firms, research centers, private and public institutions, and individuals. Since 2001, his agency has customized strategies and solutions for clients to successfully (and profitably) meet their goals. 

John also regularly conducts proposal writing workshops and technical writing seminars at universities and community sites around the nation and overseas. His training presentations, for example, have taken place at Harvard Medical Center; Boston University Carnegie Mellon University; Georgia Institute of Technology; University College London; Simon Fraser University; Marquette University; Lewis & Clark College; University of Hawaii; City of Richmond (British Columbia); Bennett College, Virginia Commonwealth University; Tufts University; San Jose State University; Illinois Institute of Technology; University of British Columbia; King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; University of Utah; and University of Southern California.  

John also worked as a “development officer” consultant on behalf of charitable giving programs supported by American Express, Citigroup, Avery Dennison, Magic Johnson Foundation, Tzone Foundation, and other organizations.

John served as an instructor and program specialist at the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he spearheaded the district’s efforts to develop workforce training/education programs for high-profile organizations, such as General Motors, United Auto Workers, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and Walt Disney. In addition, he successfully performed grant writing tasks in support of education and training programs for the district’s adult education and vocational training division. 

Prior to forming his communications practice, John worked as a staff writer for the Los Angeles Daily Journal Co, publisher of the nation’s largest daily law newspaper, and as editor and reporter at the Los Angeles Business Journal, the nation’s largest weekly business newspaper. He worked as a radio announcer and producer for top-rated local stations in the Northwest (KGW-AM; KINK-FM, KBOO-FM). Previously, John served in the U.S. Navy for six years as a military journalist.  

He is active in civic and charitable organizations, most notably through membership on the board of directors of the International Institute of Los Angeles, a nonprofit group that has provided social services to local communities for more than 100 years. He also served on the President’s Council for the Chinese Garden at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA.

John holds a Master of Science degree from Mount St. Mary’s University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University. 

Beth Tomasovich

Beth Tomasovich joined O’Malley International Associates in 2006, bringing solid organizational skills and know-how in sales and management training, advertising and public service.

Beth was sales and promotions director for Arrowhead, Inc. where she traveled nationally training sales staff, directing highly successful sales events at major retailers and supervising print media, radio and TV advertising. Prior to that, Beth was an Account Manager with Glenn, Bozell and Jacobs Advertising Agency in Dallas, Texas. She prepared and presented proposals for new business, including detailed market analysis, budgeting and statistical reports.

Beth served on the San Marino School District Executive Boards for 12 years, and organized major fundraisers for their award winning schools. She graduated with honors from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and received a minor in Business Administration.

Larissa Nelson

Larissa Nelson has worked with O’Malley International since 2000. She has an extensive background in the non-profit, political and public relations industries. Her career has been focused on non-profit start-up, fund development, program development, and volunteer recruitment and training. Larissa is also co-founder of The Center for Student Philanthropic Advancement, a non-profit organization that focuses on combining educated student volunteers with community programs.

Larissa has had success in obtaining millions of dollars in funding for organizations. She also works closely with the media outlets of Southern California to generate radio/TV interviews, newspaper articles, and other publicity for organizations and individuals.

She has served as a political organizer for the Los Angeles city elections, bringing thousands of dollars and volunteers into campaigns. Larissa has also served as a Lobbying Coordinator and volunteer recruiter where she organized and trained members to lobby and campaign effectively. She has been responsible for coordinating and training hundreds of volunteers for political campaigns for a range of campaign duties.

Throughout her professional career, Mrs. Nelson has continued to work in community and volunteer organizations. She always finds time to contribute locally, from encouraging citizens to become politically involved to working with a local woman’s service group to serving on the local school site council helping to improve education in her community. Larissa graduated cum laude from Pepperdine University with a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communications and a concentration in Political Science.

Jill Timmons

Professor Jill Timmons has performed internationally as both a solo pianist and ensemble artist.  She has offered performances and educational residencies on three continents. According to the New York Timesmusic critic, Tim Page, “Timmons is a sensitive musician…Her playing is graceful, lyrical, detailed and intimate.” And Fanfare Magazine has said that “she soars with the eagles. She plays with vitality and élan.”

Jill has also performed under the auspices of the National Endowment for the Arts and has recorded on the Laurel, Centaur, and Capstone labels. Ken Burns chose music from her Amy Beach recording for the soundtrack to his PBS documentary, The War.

An award-winning author, Jill has penned many articles and essays on topics that include entrepreneurship and volunteerism within the arts and humanities. She has written for the University of Southern California (USC), the College Music Society, National Association of Schools of Music, Carpe Diem Books, American Music Teacher, Clavier Magazine, and for a number of prestigious record labels. Jill is a recipient of USC’s Wilk International Literary Prize.

Jill holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Washington and a Master of Music from Boston University. She is professor emerita at Linfield College in Oregon and an artist/teacher affiliate with Classic Pianos. She now combines concert and recording projects with work as an international performing arts consultant through Artsmentor, LLC and O’Malley International Associates in Pasadena, California.

Susan Marriott

Susan Marriott is an Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in the Departments of Molecular Virology and Microbiology, and Molecular and Cellular Biology. She manages an active research lab studying molecular mechanisms that regulate cellular proliferation and transformation in response to viral infection. Dr. Marriott has authored successful research proposals funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and American Cancer Society. She has published over 50 original works in major medical journals. She has spoken at numerous national and international research conferences in Japan, South Korea, Australia, Great Britain, France, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Jamaica and Canada.

In 2001, Susan established BioScience Writers, a company that specializes in revising, editing and writing scientific and clinical research documents. As the CEO of BioScience Writers, Dr. Marriott also developed a scientific writing workshop designed for science professionals.

Susan holds a Ph.D. degree in microbiology from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. Prior to joining Baylor College of Medicine in 1991, she worked for four years as a post-doctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

Richard Graziano

Richard Graziano, Ed.D. brings expertise and knowledge regarding education and training to O’Malley International Associates. He is the former chair and professor of tourism and hospitality at Kingsborough Community College of the City University of New York (CUNY). In his 12 years at Kingsborough, Richard was directly involved in curriculum development, assessment of learning outcomes and faculty development in the Kingsborough Center for Teaching and Learning.

Prior to coming to Kingsborough, Richard spent more than 20 years at the New York City Department of Education as a teacher, supervisor, and Director of the Academy of Travel & Tourism where, with the assistance of an industry advisory council, he managed programs at multiple school sites, developed internship placements and planned student and faculty conferences. The curricula he wrote in travel-related courses, career education and geography were adopted in academy programs nationwide under the auspices of the National Academy Foundation. As a consultant to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, he developed Portsport, a board game that engages students in learning about port operations, geography and economics.

Richard earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in history from St. John’s University, in education from Queens College and a doctorate in education from Hofstra University. In addition to his education experience, he has been a professional musician and a sports official.
